About Me

About Me:

Mariela Janelle Gonzalez,

The Care Neighborhood Curator

Hi! I'm Mariela (she/her). I'm a queer, Puerto Rican femme, and a person who is growing in love for life.  I'm married to Allyson, and co-parent to one kiddo. We also share our home with a cat, dog, and fish.

I am a Humanist Chaplain and Celebrant in the the Chicagoland area. Currently I work as a Chaplain and Certified Educator Student at a Level 1 Trauma Hospital in a suburban county. My background is as a youth adviser, elderly caregiver, human rights advocate, and writer. As a Celebrant, it is my honor to journey with persons for invocations, rituals, and other spiritual care needs.

Here at The Care Neighborhood, I facilitate community care and self care through creativity, connection, and coziness.  Check out our The Care Neighborhood Instagram for routine care praxis. See "Welcome" and "Getting Deep About the Neighborhood" for more about this community.
